New Software to Sort Résumés

Columbia University is phasing in Restrac Webhire, an applicant tracking software that specializes in online recruitment. The system will allow applicants to submit résumés online, assist human resources and department managers by sorting the résumés that best match the position they are looking to fill, and make available an online résumé pool.

As Restrac is implemented, all résumés will be mailed or faxed to a central location, where the information will be scanned into an online database. Human Resources is hopeful that Restrac will eventually allow all résumés and applications to be submitted online. At this time Restrac is not fully operational. Employees or potential employees may use conventional methods in applying for openings.
