Public Health Awards Calderone Prize The Joseph L. Mailman School of Public Health awarded the 1999 Frank A. Calderone Lectureship and Prize to Dr. Donald A. Henderson, Johns Hopkins University Distinguished Service Professor. Dr. Henderson delivered his lecture, "Bioterrorism: Myths and Realities," during a luncheon held by the school at the New York Helmsley Hotel on April 5.
The Calderone Medal and $10,000 prize are awarded every two years to an individual who has made an exceptional contribution in the field of public health. Dr. Henderson was recognized for his work as director of the World Health Organizations global campaign to eradicate small pox.
