Wei Shen completed her M.D. & M.S. degree in 1997 from Beijing Medical University, China. She completed her pediatrics training in 2000 as Chief Resident at in Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH). She got further training at the Childrenís Hospital of Philadelphia from May 2000 to August 2000 as a visiting scholar. In November 2000, Dr. Shen joined Steven B. Heymsfield at the Obesity Research Center as a postdoctoral research scientist to work on body composition and obesity. In the past one year, she has worked on FRAM study, with special interest in fat distribution and visceral adipose tissue. She is currently working on muscle and liver lipid content with relation to metabolic disease using magnetic resonance spectroscopy, validating rapid MRI segmentation software and new ideas on how to evaluating segmented volume accuracy using the Visible Human.Ý
