Qing He, PH.D.


Qing He, Ph.D. Dr. Qing He, Ph.D., is a post-doctoral research fellow at the Obesity Research Center and Institute of Human Nutrition, Columbia University, College of Physicians & Surgeons. She worked as a pediatrician in Beijing Children's Hospital before completing her Ph.D. in 2000 from the Department of Pediatrics, at the University of Hong Kong. Her dissertation, "Childhood obesity - definition, risk factors and health consequences", studied risk factors and health outcomes such as blood pressure and height gain in childhood obesity, and the prediction of adulthood obesity from pediatric years. Dr. He has considerable experience in conducting large field studies, data management and data analysis using SAS. She joins Dr. Dympna Gallagher at the Obesity Research Center to work on fat distribution in children.

Dr. Qing He current research interests include

  1. Fat distribution in children and health outcomes
  2. Ethnic differences in health risk of childhood obesity
  3. Measurement and evaluation of intra-abdominal fat in children
  4. Treatment of childhood obesity
  5. Analysis of epidemiological data related to obesity
